Hi everyone,

My name is Lisa, and I'm a seasoned veteran of the nonprofit world. Like most folks in the "nonprofit trenches," marketing budgets are a luxury to me; doing MORE with LESS (or zero!) is definitely my forte! But wow.... social media is changing all that! The opportunities & possibilities available to charities via social media have become my passion and my calling!

ABOUT ME: Results-driven management, marketing and social media marketing services to nonprofit organizations & foundation clients.

BACKGROUND: I'm an energetic nonprofit leader and manager with 18 years' diverse experience helping nonprofits fulfill their missions, foster trust and accountability, and build recognition and respect for a job well done.

My consulting expertise is broad. Over the course of my career, I've tackled a variety of different challenges and worn many hats --- I've directed a cutting-edge peer education program targeting at-risk teens across MS; Developed and implemented a wide variety of highly-successful successful PR, marketing and crisis response initiatives; Co-founded and helped lead Central Mississippi's first comprehensive AIDS Services Organization; and served on the boards of several local and national nonprofits.

I'm an information junkie and a social media GEEK, with a passion for learning and finding new solutions to complex problems. Some of my favorite projects involve web-based research and writing (name a topic, any topic!) and helping nonprofits harness the incredible power of the internet and social networks.

If you've ever worked with a charitable organization, you know that ours is a world with it's own unique set of challenges and opportunities. A successful nonprofit volunteer or employee needs drive and determination; an "out-of-the box" approach to solving complex problems; and most importantly, a true passion for helping others. It's tough, demanding work and everyday offers new opportunities to learn something new...that's why I love what I do!

SPECIALTIES:

+ Executive coaching and management support
+ Board development
+ Compliance and fostering accountability
+ Public relations and media strategy
+ Internet and social media marketing
+ Research, writing and editing
+ Employee handbooks, policy and procedure manuals, and marketing materials
+ In-kind donations and fund raising

Thanks for reading my post; I look forward to sharing ideas and information with this great group!

About Me
A story of dreams, determination, and disability

Hello everyone out there in internet land,
Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Matt Marcinek I’m 25 years old and I’m from Scranton Pennsylvania. Yes, that Scranton Pennsylvania, You may know it as the home of Dunder Mifflin, the fictional paper company featured on the hit NBC show, The Office, but to me it’s just simply known as home. I am a 2006 graduate of Marywood University in Scranton holding my Bachelors of Arts in English. I currently am a part time instructor/grader in the English department for Penn Foster online college where I grade descriptive and humanities essays for both form and content. Now, I am looking forward to breaking into the world of Social Media. I see Social media as being the future of business and a vital key in helping a brand reach global recognition. I believe that I have the type of qualities needed to really be an asset to a company in the area of Social media. I appreciate you taking the time to learn more about me from the information below and would love an opportunity to be able to prove myself with your company

The Dream jobEveryone has a dream job and I’m no different. I have a huge passion for sports. The NFL, MLB, but most specifically Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). I would love to help an MMA company increase their visibility on the internet through the use of social media whether that is through writing blogs, or promoting through other media types such as myspace, facebook, or twitter.

The Disability
Normally when writing about myself, I put all the information regarding my disability last. Why? Simply because it’s honestly not that big of a deal to me. However, since this is to introduce myself to a potential future employer, I feel that it’s imperative for me to “lay everything on the table” and provide as much information as I can for you. I was born with cerebral palsy. For those of you who don’t know what cerebral palsy is, it is “a term used to describe a group of chronic conditions affecting body movements and muscle coordination. It is caused by damage to one or more specific areas of the brain, usually occurring during fetal development or infancy. It also can occur before, during or shortly following birth”.(www.about-cerebral-palsy.org). Basically, what this means is, from infancy a bleed occurred in my brain which inhibits my ability to move in a “normal” fashion. Fortunately, I have a mild form of CP, meaning the only ways in which I am inhibited are that I cannot walk and need the assistance of a wheelchair or walker to get around and I cannot drive, which means that being able to to work remotely from home would be beneficial to me. Other than that, I can speak, write, and learn just as well as an able bodied person. While most people would see my CP as a weakness, I prefer to see it as a strength as illustrated below

Strengths
• Exceptional adaptability and versatility- My disability has put me in a number of situations where I needed to adapt and overcome challenges which were put in front of me for example learning how to lift myself into a vehicle using my arms so that my mom didn’t need to assist me any longer
• Strong written and verbal communication skills-My background in English has afforded me the opportunity and ability to write for a variety of different genres whether it be sports articles for my school paper, to poetry, to eulogy's for lost loved ones
• Experience with various Social Media- I have experience with Myspace, Facebook, and Twitter as well as wordpress and Blogger platforms
• Experienced in making connections- I have an interesting story and an outgoing personality. I believe people want to know more about me and our comfortable dealing with me.
• Extensive experience working remotely – employed as an off premise grader part time since October 15th 2007
• Strong willingness and want to improve- in addition to my job at Penn Foster, I have also enrolled in their web design program and currently hold a 92 average overall. I also constantly read and research on various SEO and internet Marketing strategies.
• Positive attitude and outlook- living with a disability is not easy, however, I’ve learned that the more you focus on the negative, the worse off you will be, it’s better to take challenges head on and overcome them
• Extensive experience with leadership and working within in a team setting- Eagle Scout, certified Judo coach and brown belt, Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner, along with being a part of the wrestling team.
• I’m Young- At age 25, I am right at the apex of the demographic for the target audience of people who use social media.

Weaknesses • Lack of experience- I’ll be the first to admit it, I don’t have a lot of work experience. It is difficult to find a job while having a disability. However, my lack of experience has simply reinforced my hunger to find a job and to prove to the people that didn’t hire me that I am an asset that they missed out on.
• Inability to drive- not being able to drive is a huge deterrent to me. I would love the opportunity to drive myself wherever I need to be. However, I feel that this is will not be a hindrance in a work from home position as it allows me to focus on my job.
• “Hunt and peck” typer- because of spasticity in my left arm caused by my CP, I am a “hunt and peck” one finger typer. Although, I do type 20 WPM at this style, I can also utilize Dragon Naturally speaking dictation software

Again, Thank you for taking the time to read this, please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Sincerely,
Matt Marcinek
